Eligibility: open to current students enrolled in an accredited College/University and recent college graduates (within 1 year of position start date)


Position Summary

The VIVA School is seeking qualified candidates to apply for our Summer Internship. A Summer Intern (SI) is  an attentive and organized individual that contributes to the daily operation and facilitation of all VIVA School Summer programming. Interns are assigned projects based on a delicate balance of career interests and on-site need, with projects centered across three main departments to include Marketing, Operations and Student Development. 


Summer Interns report to the Operations Manager, engage with students, families, faculty and guests, and collaborate closely with The VIVA School’s administrative and programming staff.


Targeted Learning Opportunities

  • develop skill competencies specific to a career in dance, arts administration, education, etc.

  •  expand oral and written communication skills

  • enhance interpersonal communication and interaction skills

  • develop skills to work effectively within a formal and informal network

  • acquire new knowledge in a new setting to enhance classroom education

  • apply higher order thinking skills (critical thinking, analysis, synthesis, evaluation, complex problem solving) to “real world” situations

  • gain hands-on experience with logistics and production of major events including Summer Camp/Intensive Showings & Performances

  • develop confidence and experience communicating professionally and effectively with artists, managers, and arts administrators from dancers and companies visiting The VIVA School

  • opportunities for mentorship and connections with departments, programs, and initiatives to include Marketing, Operations and Student Development

Ideal Candidate

  • Resides in US

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited College/University

  • Career interest in dance, arts administration, dance education, etc.

  • A commitment to learning 

  • Strong motivation and ability to work independently 

  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and perform effectively under pressure

  • Flexible and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain a calm and patient demeanor with all students, staff and constituents

  • Strong verbal skills in English. (Verbal fluency in Spanish is an added benefit.)

  • Passionate about the advancement of students of color, the importance of arts and culture, and innovative approaches to education

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software and Google products

  • Available evenings
