Position Summary
The VIVA School is seeking an experienced & passionate Academic Program Manager to join its staff. The Academic Program Manager (APM) is a dedicated education professional that promotes student development in focused areas of education. Working to meet the multifaceted needs of developing young artists, the APM is responsible for the implementation and management of The VIVA School’s academic programs: the Diploma Program & the English Language Arts (ELA) Program. Through a combination of curriculum development, administrative work, lesson planning, and group facilitation, the APM ensures that all pre-professional training students receive the focused guidance they need to experience the capacity of their talent and unique artistic potential and build the skills needed to impact a diverse, creative society. The role is integral to The VIVA School’s commitment to delivering a holistic model of training that prioritizes students of color.
The Academic Program Manager reports to the Artistic & Executive Director, functions as a liaison between academic partner (Laurel Springs School) faculty, contracted tutors, students, and families, and collaborates closely with The VIVA School’s administrative and programming staff.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field

Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position preferred

Thorough understanding of the landscape of education both nationally and internationally

Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain a calm and patient demeanor with all students, staff and constituents

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English & Spanish

Ability to effectively engage with students ages 8-18 in an academic setting and build long-term relationships

Ability to diagnose and solve problems of varying complexity with a student-focused mindset

Ability to prioritize, multitask, and perform effectively under pressure

Strong motivation and ability to work independently

Flexible and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Passionate about the advancement of students of color, the importance of arts and culture, and innovative approaches to education

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software and Google products
